Talk:Mabel Tolkien

Okay to move to Mabel Tolkien?--Morgan 21:55, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

I tend to think "Mabel Suffield" in my head, but that's just me. In any case, at least with hobbits, we do favour maiden names over married? Not sure what everyone else thinks. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 22:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I was also thinking about our standard for hobbit maiden names. However, in the case of real-life people, from what I can find reference books tend to list people under their married name (e.g., Mabel is found under "Tolkien, Mabel" in The JRRT Companion and Guide; other examples are Jane Neave and Edith Tolkien). Do we need a standard, or is it enough with a case-by-case principle? --Morgan 00:26, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Morgan, those are strong reasons. --LorenzoCB 21:22, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit] A possible picture

This great woman had a disturbingly low amount on her before, so I tried to expand it. I'm sure there are a few typos, but I hope it is a good beginning. Maybe we should have an image? I'm not sure how to do that.SingingOrc 16:35, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Done. Good work everyone. --LorenzoCB 21:31, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. Probably at this point the article doesn't need the quote from Glóin anymore.SingingOrc 21:34, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

[edit] Genealogy

I was thinking, in this article, Mabel's only sister mentioned is May. I'm wondering if she should be added to the genealogy. I'm not entirely sure of their birth order, however.SingingOrc 00:48, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

I noticed that, but I wished to check the Tolkien Companion and Guide before adding more siblings. --LorenzoCB 09:18, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, then.SingingOrc 11:27, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
