Third Age 2851

Third Age 2851 (abbreviated to T.A. 2851) is the 2851st year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 2851 was also known as S.R. 1251 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- The White Council meets.[1]
- Gandalf urges an attack on Dol Guldur. Saruman (who desired the One Ring and hoped that it would reveal itself with Sauron's presence) overrules him.[1]
- Saruman begins to search near the Gladden Fields.[1]
- King Walda with his companions ride by mountain-paths from Dunharrow. They are trapped and slain by orcs.[2]
- Folca, son of Walda, becomes the thirteenth King of Rohan.[2]
- Birth of Halfred Greenhand, second child and first son of Holman the greenhanded.[3]
