gwend

gwend or gwenn is a Sindarin noun with two meanings:

1. "bond, friendship". It is related to the verb gwedh, meaning "to bind".
2. "maiden". Compare with the suffix -wen

Examples

• Arwen = "Noble Maiden"
• Morwen = "Dark Maiden"
