On 2 December 1955, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Elizabeth Jennings, Tolkien's childhood friend.[1][2]
- Subject: Tolkien congratulates Jennings on the publication of her poetry book A Way of Looking and discusses the merits of W.H. Auden's Shield of Achilles, and mentions the review of both books in Time and Tide.[1][2]
