59 St John Street, Oxford, was J.R.R. Tolkien's undergraduate lodgings from 1914 to 1915 whilst he was studying at the University of Oxford. There he wrote a poem about Eärendel in the winter of 1914[1] and months later other about the Cottage of Lost Play, on 27-28 April, 1915.[2]
