Amon Obel was a large hill in the Forest of Brethil on which the People of Haleth built the settlement of Ephel Brandir, which became the main settlement of the Men of Brethil.
Amon Obel means "Fortified Hill" in Sindarin (amon = "hill" and gobel = "walled settlement").
