Days of Dearth

The Days of Dearth was the period of famine in The Shire following the Long Winter,[1] a bitterly cold winter (lasting from November T.A. 2758 to March 2759)[2] in which many thousands of Hobbits died. The subsequent famine continued into the year T.A. 2760.
