Hill Road
From Tolkien Gateway
The Hill Road was a road in Hobbiton of the Shire which led to Overhill, over the Hill and Bag End.
On the evening of 23 September T.A. 3018[1] Frodo Baggins walked to the end of the path, past a gate, and partly down Hill Road in anxious expectation of Gandalf's arrival; just around the corner was Bagshot Row and the smial of the Gamgee Family. While there Frodo heard the old Gaffer talking to some stranger with an unpleasant voice.[2]
Portrayal in adaptations[edit | edit source]

- Robin Smallburrow lives at 9, Hill Road, though all the other houses and holes in the street are said to be on Bagshot Row.
