Othrod was a "lord of the Orcs" that was slain by Tuor in Gondolin.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
During the Fall of Gondolin, Othrod was among those Orcs which assailed the Gondothlim alongside the Balrogs at the coming of the Drakes. Othrod was ultimately slain by Tuor, who clove his helm with his axe, Dramborleg, in the process.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Othrod is clearly Gnomish, but it is not glossed. The Qenya cognate was Osorot.[3]
Other versions of the legendarium[edit | edit source]
Othrod never appeared within any of Tolkien's writing after "The Fall of Gondolin" in The Book of Lost Tales.
