The Tolkien Index is a not-for-profit website which aims to produce a comprehensive index of names from writings by J.R.R. Tolkien which do not already have an index.[1] It was founded by Morgan Thomsen on 24 June 2011.[2]

Noting the website Tolkien Index in November 2011, Tolkien Transactions, an on-line review journal, wrote: "[t]rusting that the authors will continue the work, this promises to be a very valuable index resource".[3]
