Calenhir in The Lord of the Rings Online
River
Calenhir
General Information
LocationGondor
TypeRiver
RegionsPinnath Gelin

Calenhir was a river in Gondor that flowed east from the Pinnath Gelin into the Morthond. On the "working map" that J.R.R. Tolkien used while writing The Lord of the Rings the river was drawn on the map but only named in the list of the "Rivers of Gondor".[1] This river was removed from the maps of the published Lord of the Rings[2] and the Unfinished Tales.[3]

Its name seems to mean "Green River" in Sindarin, from calen ("green") + lenited sîr ("river").[4]

Portrayal in adaptations

2014: The Lord of the Rings Online:

Calenhir belongs to the region of Anfalas, the in-game boundaries of Pinnath Gelin beginning just slightly north of its origin.
