Talk:Army of the dead

Canon?[edit source]

I did a quick search in The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion and was unable to locate this specific phrase. Did J.R.R. Tolkien ever actually use it or did Peter Jackson coin it for his films?

I searched my e-text of the LotR and couldn't find this phrase. They are called 'the Dead Men of Dunharrow', but not 'Army of the Dead', as far as I can tell. --Earendilyon 16:11, 4 March 2006 (EST)
I'll have to go through The History of Middle-earth and see if it is mentioned in there, as well as Unfinished Tales. If I can't find anything then we should probably try to stick to using Dead Men of Dunharrow as opposed to Army of the Dead. --Hyarion 16:16, 4 March 2006 (EST)
