Talk:Himling

Here we have a delicate problem:

CT says (Unfinished Tales: "Introduction: The Map of Middle-earth") that "Himling was the earlier form of Himring". As Himling only appears "on one of [JRRT's] sketch maps and on [CT's] own first draft" and not within the LotR - should we rather use "Himring (island)" and "Himring (hill)" instead? Otherwise it would seem like the hill of Himring was renamed to Himling after it became an island in the drowning of Beleriand (as I myself thought before investigating the matter). --Morgan 15:32, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sure, although I do wonder whether having separate articles is even necessary. Could have one article which details the history of the hill and then says that it was an island following the drowning of Beleriand. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 15:43, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, that's a good idea! I will try to rewrite them some of the coming days, and probably add something about the how (or rather, why) the island was named Himling on the map accompanying many (all?) editions of the LotR. --Morgan 15:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
