"And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined."
Iluvatar to Melkor in The Silmarillion, "Ainulindalë"

About Me[edit | edit source]

I am Joseph Marx, an Ohioan filmmaker. I am a Tolkien enthusiast, with my favorite book being The Silmarillion. I have Youtube critique show called 'Cinema in Review' (formally Jack's Reviews). This former show s where the name Jacob T. Fawkes comes from. My particular forte is in the area of temporal mechanics and historical analysis, particularly fictional histories. I am a self-taught physicist and a genealogist, with the love for alternative histories and epic fantasy.

Current Projects[edit | edit source]

As well as maintaining an upkeep my videos. I plan to improve various areas of Tolkien Gateway, more specifically the areas of which I have the most skill in deducing. These areas include much of the early history of Arda e.g. The Silmarillion, The Annals of Aman, etc. My first goal is to improve the Annals of Aman article to include much more of the facts from the Annals onto the article itself, so as to help my peers in further investigation and debate of Tolkien lore.

I am also trying to develop a more in-depth knowledge of the temporal and genealogical aspects of the myth. Analyzing the Year of the Trees, I realize that their desperately needs to be a much more standard form of time-keeping, unrelated to the passing of ages. To this end, I am developing an,as of late, unnamed time-keeping system.
